Reading the site
You can read CSC without creating an account. The website serves its own fonts and images. Public editorial pages load Google Analytics 4 and Yandex.Metrika after the page becomes interactive to measure reach and improve the publication.
Accounts
If you sign in through an enabled Google or Discord connection, CSC receives the profile information needed to create and manage your account, such as a provider identifier, name, email and profile image. Your provider password is not shared with CSC. Session cookies keep you signed in. The account page allows you to update your display name, sign out and see a short first-party history of guides you have read while signed in.
Editorial analytics
CSC records public page views to understand which guides and topics readers use. It stores the page, date, referring hostname and a broad browser family. A short-lived first-party visitor cookie is transformed into a salted daily hash for view deduplication. Raw IP addresses are not used as public identifiers or stored in the page-view table. Do Not Track is respected by this view tracker.
Google Analytics 4 and Yandex.Metrika may use cookies, local storage, device identifiers and normal request metadata such as browser, language, approximate location and referring page. Yandex.Metrika Webvisor and clickmap help us understand sessions, navigation and interface interactions on public editorial pages. The trackers are not loaded on account, admin or search pages. These services process data under their own privacy notices and use it to report aggregate traffic, content reach and technical performance. External analytics are enabled immediately after interactive page load; there is no separate consent banner in this implementation.
Administrative visits and recognized bots are excluded from article popularity. The public site does not display private visitor records.
Messages and administration
The contact form stores your name, email, subject and message so the editorial team can review it. Administrative actions and article revisions are logged. Access is limited to authorized administrators. Do not submit sensitive information that is unnecessary for your request.
Retention and requests
Account records are retained while an account is active and where needed for security or administration. Contact messages and analytics should be periodically reviewed and removed when no longer needed. You can request access, correction or deletion through Contact. Some records may need to be retained to address abuse or outstanding obligations.
External websites
Articles link to external sources. Those sites operate under their own privacy notices. Following a source link can disclose normal connection information to its operator.
Changes
This notice describes CSC's current features. Material changes to data collection require an updated notice. Questions about its operation can be sent through the editorial contact form.
